Suonetar (possibly the same as the names Lihatar and Kalvotar mentioned alongside with her) is a healing goddess who is there to help out with the sprained ankle of a horse. This is her only runosong appearance. Horse ankle incantationsare heavily Christianized, but were clearly common around pre-Christian Europe. She is called a graceful maiden (sorea neito).
The trio of names Suonetar, Kalvotar and Lihatar are asked to tie veins/tendons where they have become cut, to grow new membranes where they have become cut, and attach flesh where it has slipped off.
| Suonetar | From suoni, which can mean both "vein" and "tendon". |
|---|---|
| Kalvotar | From kalvo "membrane". |
| Lihatar | From liha "flesh". |
