Otavatar is the luonnotar of the Big Dipper and the "girl of the Sun". She is asked to light up the night sky either to find a lost item, or the thief of said item.
Alongside her is mentioned a cat named Kipinätär (from kipinä "spark"). It is called the cat of Hiisi and is asked to protect items and drive away thieves.
The bear is said to have been born in the sky: "At the Moon, near the Sun, on the shoulders of the Big Dipper".
