


Laskiaisluku to yell while sliding down a hill on a toboggan on Shrove Tuesday, in order to pray for long flax and big turnips, cabbages and rutabagas. Because Äyräs is the goddess of these plants, and is called an "old mother" elsewhere, I believe she is the old mother intended in this instance as well (even though people could've of course also used it as a general term).
