This is a ritual song for the Vakat festival in spring (approx. May 25) when spring sowing has been finished. In the beginning or end of this song, Ukko is also asked to bring rain.
Where this runosong takes place is the island at the center of the world, so Ahti is Ahti the Islander. Summer here is called the son of "lievo", and I have no idea if that is supposed to mean lieto as in wet land, Lieto as in "frivolous Lemminkäinen", lievo as in "the helper bird of a shaman" which Louhi transforms into in Karelia (and it seems that Päivätär transforms into in Finland), lieve as in "cowshed", lieventää as in "to ease", etcetcetc. HOWEVER, I would like to point out that a Central Finnish runosong gives summer weather the name Lievetyinen, just like winter frost here below is called Hyytämöinen (from hyytää "to chill").

So for context: the place where Sämpsä is lying is a pile of grain or seeds where he had sex with "his step-mother", or the Earth goddess Maatar. Because of this act, the seeds in question are super fertile, and when they get caught on animal fur, animals spread them around. I didn't include this part because in the Savonian version, it has become mixed up with another runosong and says that Sämpsä lied with his sister instead of step-mother.
